Doobie Brothers/Journey/Dave Mason, AWESOME
If you are like me and think that the best music of the Doobie Brothers came before Michael McDonald, then you will think the Doobie Brothers portion of the concert is an incredible trip to the past. Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, the Doobie Brothers' founding members and lead singers are still together, so all of the pre Michael McDonald hits sounded just like they did when they were on the radio back in the 70s.
Founding member and guitarist Neal Schon still impresses with his guitar rifts and solos. Movements pounded out a dozen of their biggest hits and three or four of their lesser known songs. Arnel Pineada is the new Movements singer and if you close your eyes, you will think you are listening to Steve Perry. Four of the five Movements band members from the band's glory years are currently with the band this summer, the only piece missing is Steven Perry.
Dave Mason, was a solid third act. Mason's biggest hit is "We Just Disagree" from 1977, one of my favorite songs.
